About Us
The Haitian Professionals of Philadelphia (HPP) was established in November 2008 to help elevate Philadelphia’s Haitian community through education, professional development, and mentorship. We will accomplish this goal by:
- Coordinating professional development opportunities;
- Creating educational, leadership and scholarship opportunities for students;
- Bridging the gap between the older generation and the younger generation;
- Promoting intellectual and social discourse pertinent to Haiti and its people;
- Educating the public at-large on Haiti’s marvelous culture.
We have been busy during our first year. Since our inception we have hosted the following successful events: Haitians and Africans for Obama was our inaugural event which brought together two large ethnic communities to fundraise for then Presidential Candidate Barack Obama. In honor of Haitian Flag Day, HPP hosted a community forum a community forum that included a panel discussion on the current immigration issues facing the Haitian Community, as well as a panel discussion on how to launch and sustain an entrepreneurial business. Featured panelists inlcuded Michael Bing of the Enterprise Center, Kahiga Tiagha of Gonzales Tiagha, and Kathleen Jeanty. Lastly, we hosted Liberte, our annual Haitian Flag Day cultural gala LaRose Jazz Club.
HPP is successful because of the hard work of our Executive Board. To become a member Click Here
